Gold Coins of Argentina

The first Spanish arrived in what is now Argentina in 1516. By 1580 the area was more or less under Spanish control. Spanish Colonial Peru consisted of the areas know today as Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay and most of Bolivia. Argentina became independent in 1810 and a Republic in 1816.  Coins were issued by all three authorities.
