1920-S $10 Realizes $1,725,000 At Auction
If there was any question about the strength of the coin market, those doubts were dispelled on March 17, 2007, when a PCGS MS-67 1920-S Indian Head $10 gold piece sold for $1,725,000. The seller was Dr. Steven Duckor, who purchased the coin at auction in 1979 for $85,000. The auction house was Heritage Auction Galleries. The buyer was an anonymous collector represented by Legend Numismatics. Although several coins have sold for more money in the past, this coin was significant in that it is a regular issue that just happens to be in superb condition.
